ONLINE LEARNING FOR COUNSELLORS & PSYCHOTHERAPISTS

WORKSHOP RECORDING DETAILS

It is believed that 1 in 7 people are Neurodivergent (including me). Many of these people are undiagnosed as I have discovered in my many years of working therapeutically. My specialist area is Eating Disorders and I have noticed that a significant number of people who have eating disorders are also, I believe, Neurodivergent. If this is not accounted for in our work, then it can negatively affect the therapeutic outcome of those we work with.

In this workshop we consider those living with a Neurodivergent process looking particularly at Autism and ADHD and explore the interconnection with these and Eating Disorders. We will consider the strengths and amazing internal resources that live within neurodivergent people, whilst understanding the difficulties that may make recovery from eating disorders more of a challenge. We look at the importance of nutrition and how therapy and eating a nutritionally dense diet can support change.

Our hope is that as you leave this workshop you will understand the importance of having training in both Eating Disorders and Neurodiversity and also understand that we need to have in my opinion a client centred approach and work with the uniqueness of each and every individual we meet.
