ONLINE LEARNING FOR COUNSELLORS & PSYCHOTHERAPISTS

WORKSHOP RECORDING DETAILS

What is art and what does it evoke in us? Art means something different for each and every one of us and has the power to evoke memories and stir our thoughts and feelings.

In its broadest sense, art is a form of communication that goes far beyond words: It is an act of expression shaped by different materials and techniques. Often people can feel ambivalent toward the concept of art, as it may ignite emotions or memories that bring us joy, pain or even shame. Particularly in someone's childhood experiences, art can also be connected to performance and ability, in a positive or in a negative way.

As Counsellors, Psychotherapists, and health practitioners, who want to enjoy creativity both personally and within our practice, it is important that we begin to free ourselves from the idea that art is for some and not for others.

In this workshop we will begin to reflect on the meaning that art and creativity have for us personally and we will explore the many benefits that using art and creativity can bring to our clients and to our work together. We will look at how this way of working can enhance and facilitate our practice and help us to work at a greater depth with our clients.

Practical therapeutic applications, materials and methods will be presented in this workshop and there will be an opportunity to discuss how new creative technologies can be applied in the therapy room.
